A total solar eclipse crosses the Arctic and parts of Europe

Totality is one of nature's most precise alignments: a small moving patch of Earth briefly enters the Moon's central shadow.

No equipment required
Only observers inside the official path can see totality. Elsewhere, use the NASA map for the local partial phase; location enrichment never guesses across a path boundary.
Where to look: Look toward the Sun only through an approved solar-viewing method.
Except during the brief total phase at a location inside the path, never look directly at the Sun without safe solar viewers that comply with ISO 12312-2. Ordinary sunglasses are not safe.
